Shaolin temple dates back 1500 years. Shaolin fist is a comprehensive and orthodox Chinese martial art. Shaolin system is comprised of not only striking techniques using the hands, feet, knees, and elbows but also the locking and submission techniques referred to as qinna and the throwing and grappling techniques referred to as shuaijiao. A variety of weapons is used as well. A big part of Shaolin system is internal practice – neigong (qigong). The highest goal of Shaolin martial is the unification of Chan (Chan Buddhism) and martial art. From a deeper point of view, martial art is considered to be an integral part of Chan.
