Many people are familiar with the word “Qigong” and have heard that the practice of Qigong is very useful. But what exactly are the benefits? – Not everyone can answer this question.

“What are the benefits of practicing Qigong?” In this article we want to give some answers.

Preservation and promotion of health. Disease prevention.

“How can disease penetrate a person if he maintains vital energy in his body?”

Chinese medical philosophy has always maintained that it is far more important to keep disease away by preserving health than it is to cure disease. The most ancient work of Chinese medicine, the Nei Jing, says, “Myopic medicine cures disease; true medicine is concerned with prevention.

Being healthy is natural. “A person is healthy when the Yin and Yang within his body are in harmony, the true Qi is in abundance and circulates freely within the channels,” so says traditional Chinese medicine.

The practice of Qigong helps to maintain the above conditions, thereby preserving human health and at the same time strengthening all body systems.

What happens to different systems of the human body as a result of practicing Qigong can be read here.

Treatment of Diseases.

“Sages cure disease when it has not yet manifested itself, eliminate disorders when they are still in embryo.”

This view further emphasizes the importance of disease prevention. But what to do when one is sick?

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that human illnesses are caused by a lack of the vital forces (Qi and blood) or their circulation is abnormal, resulting in an imbalance of the various vital functions.

The practice of Qigong, on the one hand, increases the true Qi in the body, on the other hand, clears the channels, achieving the main goal of “Yin and Yang in harmony, Qi and blood circulate freely.

Once the blockage is cleared and the Yin-Yang balance is restored, the disease disappears.

The ability to heal disease is the most outstanding result of Qigong practice. Through persistent regular practice, a great many people obtain positive results not only in the treatment of widespread diseases, but also achieve effective treatment of complex, even deadly diseases.

Here are a few so-called “incurable” diseases conquered by Qigong therapy: arthritis, rheumatism, insomnia, asthma, diabetes, ulcers, kidney failure, hypertension, migraine and cancer.

Resistance to premature old age, life extension.

“One hundred and twenty means you die young.”

How long can a person live? Scientists, after long and careful research, have come to the conclusion that the average biological life span of a human being is five to seven periods of development. Human developmental period reaches 25 years, so the normal lifespan should be 125-175 years.

People whose life span is more than a hundred years have always been in China. Many records have survived about this. From the text of the Collected Miscellaneous Bibliographical Records: “In Nanyang there is the river Zu, whose waters are sweet and fragrant. More than ten families live there and drink it. All live to a very advanced age, and some even to the age of 120 to 130.” “The History of the Zhou Dynasty” tells us, “A grandmother of the Wang Zhenyu family, from the time of the Five Dynasties, lived more than 200 years. Records have survived that Lao-tzu lived 160 years, Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor) lived 110 years, Emperor Yao lived 118 years, Emperor Shun lived 110 years, Sun Ximiao, the famous doctor of the Tang dynasty, lived 101 years, Hui Zhao, a monk who held an important position in the Five Dynasties, lived 290 years.

The long lives lived by these ancient people one or two millennia ago, despite the primitive living conditions of those times, can be explained by their constant efforts to maintain health, including such means as Qigong.  There is no shortage of long-livers among Qigong practitioners in our time as well.

In 1959, the gerontology research group of Tongji Medical University in Shanghai found that elderly Qigong practitioners differed from the control group in many ways, such as EEG, ECG and ECG data, vascular permeability, protein absorption rate and gas metabolism, and better appetite, sleep, gait, vision, hearing; dental, skin, hair condition; memory, mental ability and performance.

Traditional Chinese medicine links longevity and health to kidney function. The kidneys are the “basis of innate vitality” and the “commander-in-chief. They command reproduction and spirit. The kidneys do part of the work of the reproductive, endocrine, central nervous and immune systems. A person whose kidneys are strong is not only full of vitality and retains mental clarity – he also enjoys good health and long life.

As the great healer Ye Tianypi pointed out, “A person in old age is primarily deficient in the original qi in the lower part of the body cavity.” “Kidney deficiency,” which Chinese medicine speaks of, has been confirmed by modern science and can probably be defined as the ratio of estradiol to testosterone in the plasma. In other words, aging is somehow reflected in this ratio.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, renal insufficiency is closely related to many diseases common in the elderly, such as diabetes, coronary diseases and acute myocardial infarction. Renal failure has been found to be related to changes in the nature of sex hormones, which can be improved by Qig犀利士 ong exercises specifically designed to delay the body’s senility. Recent studies have shown that in men suffering from kidney failure, the ratio of estradiol to testosterone is about 14 or 15, while in normal people it is only 7 or 8. After a year of Qigong practice, the patients tested showed not only a drop in blood pressure, but also a drop in the ratio of estradiol to testosterone to a level of 5 or 6. From this we can see that Qigong can affect renal insufficiency and normalize the environment for the production of sex hormones in the plasma, thus slowing down the aging process.

In addition, Qigong has proven effective in improving the function of the glands of internal secretion and reducing free radical damage to somatic cell biomembranes and intracellular organelles, thereby psychologically helping to slow down the aging process.

The practice of Qigong not only allows you to live longer, but more importantly, to live a more fulfilling life.  We can say that the goal of Qigong is to fight senility, which means not only increasing life expectancy, but also improving its quality.

Many Qigong practitioners may not have lived an unusually long life, but they were always full of strength and energy and treated their age without regret. Even at the age of 60 or 70, they were just as energetic as they were when they were 10 or 20 years old.

One does not live simply to live; one lives to do something worthwhile and at the same time to enjoy life. Quality of life, then, is more important than just the number of years someone is able to live. This is especially true of those frail, sickly old people who would rather die than live such a miserable existence year after year. It is Qigong that can often alleviate their suffering, making life fulfilling again.

Development of mental faculties.

“Banish all extraneous thoughts, breathe in cosmic energy, and free the mind from its bonds.”

Nei Jing.”

Qigong exercises require a special state of supreme concentration and relaxation, which is achieved during practice. In this state, the brain is under special conditions different from ordinary rest, sleep, or hypnosis. These conditions, which involve active inhibition in the cerebral cortex, help regulate, restore, and improve brain function.

Thus, the practice of Qigong can eliminate brain fatigue and improve the efficiency of brain cells, your attention is focused, sensory perception is sharpened, memory improves, thinking abilities increase, you are filled with energy and inspiration.

In China, schools and universities conducted experimental observations. After Qigong exercises, there were noticeable positive changes in students’ performance in the course of 3 to 6 months. Qigong exercises strengthened students’ physical, emotional and mental health, on the one hand, and increased the energy level, which was much higher during mental work than during physical work, on the other.

Qigong exercises improve mental abilities not only for children, but also for adults. For example, a study at Bai Du En Medical University on thirty-seven seniors aged 55 to 77 showed that Qigong exercises for 20 days significantly improved their ability to concentrate. According to research by the Chinese Biophysics Research Center, Qigong exercises eliminate the cause or slow down the process of irreversible changes that occur in the brains of elderly people.

Many people cannot concentrate, their thoughts jumping from one thing to another like “monkeys. Qigong exercises calm these “monkeys” and develop the ability to concentrate. Thus, a Qigong practitioner is characterized by concentration and the ability to think purposefully, he uses his mind more effectively than an untrained person. His ability to construct a mental picture of what is happening, developed by Qigong practice, not only allows him to see the problem in its true light, but also to find a way out of the situation.

“The flow of essence feeds the mind” – the principle of using cosmic energy to unlock mental abilities, which is what happens when performing Qigong techniques.

Character formation, cultivating virtue.

“We fill ourselves with cosmic energy for the purpose of becoming righteous; cosmic energy is inaccessible to the low, self-interested man.”

 Meng-tzu

Usually the cause of emotional instability (anger, discouragement, sadness, fear) lies in a lack of inner Qi. As a result, the Spirit weakens, the person often becomes irritable, and easily succumbs to outbursts of anger.

After practicing Qigong, the true Qi inside the body becomes abundant and the Spirit is fully nourished, thereby stabilizing the mood.

During Qigong exercises, practitioners can experience a sense of boundless joy and comfort (not only physical, but also mental), and both body and soul are fully immersed in a free unique state. The state of mental health of the practitioner improves, he becomes calm, more open, pleasant and cheerful in character, which contributes to harmonization of interpersonal relationships.

Long-term persistent training Qigong can lead to education of the spirit, can open the heart, educate the will, to form a healthy personality.

Even the great thinker Confucius wrote that he who has greatness of spirit has a long life.
